Brian Pengelly, someone who has journeyed to integrate his same-sex attractions and faith, reminds us that engaging the complexity of Biblical interpretation must be built on a foundation of intimate personal relationship with Christ.

How is one who supresses their SSA 'integrating' their SSA with their faith? Isn't that the opposite?
Hi there! By integration I am talking about making my narratives and understandings about sexuality fit within the larger narrative of my faith and world view, and making my actions fit with my beliefs.
There are certainly different ways that the process of integration can happen. In some cases it means changing you beliefs in order to fit your behaviors. In some cases it involves changing your behavior to hit your beliefs. Most times it is a combination between the two.
For me I was able to accept my attractions, make sense of them within my understanding of the world and stop hating myself for having them. I was able to be honest with others about them, and accept them as part of my ongoing life. All of that was integration work.
Choosing whether or not to be involved in another relationship with a guy was a related but separate question. Both "Side A" and "Side B" Christians have had to go through the work of integrating their faith and sexuality, even if the result of that integration looks different.
